Hari Om,
Please pass this on to anyone you think is
interested. If you receive this newsletter from a friend and want to be on this
mailing list, just email in your request.
Hello to the new people who have obtained my ebooks
on the I Ching and astrology. You have been put on this list because it
involves the use of the I Ching hexagram for the degree of the new moon along
with comments about the challenges to concentration and meditation involved in
each new moon. (If for some reason you do not wish to receive this newsletter
just email me and let me know and you will be taken off this list.)
The exact
New Moon occurs on Thursday, Apr. 21, at 3:20 AM (EDT), (Apr. 21,
at 12:50 PM in Gujarat) in the I Ching
hexagram “Opposition”. Included below are the relevant interpretation segments of
the hexagram from my ebook The I Ching: The Sequence of Change, An Astrological
Perspective. (Can be ordered online at www.thewakingdream.net) Also available is my new book I Ching: Great
Treatise: An Astrological Perspective, a commentary on the words of Confucius
and his students.
The I Ching hexagram
that the New Moon is happening in is: Opposition.
38:
OPPOSITION
THE SEQUENCE:

ABOVE AND BELOW:
Fire above,
water below.
Fire burns
up and water flows down.
There are
two opposing momentums.
Clarity
above and without.
Pleasure
below and within.
Neither one
will follow the other.
Each one
will diminish the other.
THE IMAGE:
Warmth
increases.
The waters
cannot run off forever.
Opposition.
Struggles
between clarity and pleasure.
Choose
well.
Knowing
when to stop is fortunate.
Not knowing
leads to misfortune.
Awareness
of opposing desires is crucial.
Coarseness
impedes culture.
THE JUDGEMENT:
Clarity without, pleasure within.
The more one enjoys, the less clarity one will
have.
The greater the clarity, the less enjoyment one
will have.
The effects of overindulgence can be seen by
all,
As can the effects of discontent.
When such extremes predominate,
The value of the middle way becomes apparent.
Through opposition one struggles to understand.
It becomes important to evaluate the worthiness
Of what one wants.
FAMILY RELATIONSHIP:
The third
daughter to the second daughter.
She
challenges her older sister’s sense of what is appropriate.
Difficulties
will brood within.
They are
far from the surface.
The second
daughter likes to be noticed.
The third
daughter will steal the attention of others
Away from
the second daughter.
This will
cause opposition.
The third
daughter is more seductive than the second.
She is
ready for a good time.
The second
daughter will be threatened or inconvenienced.
The third
daughter aligns with pleasure.
The second
daughter aligns with clarity.
ZODIAC
CONSIDERATIONS
Daylight continues to be greater than darkness.
The waters are getting warmer.
With more light, more can be done.
Not everything is worth doing.
It is important to be selective.
If one acts on one’s own desires alone
There will be opposition and isolation.
Where there is beauty, there is also ugliness.
Knowing when to stop is appropriate.
THE LINES
Nine in the second place: (01° - 02° Taurus)
Wanting
something too much,
It is
better to leave it alone.
With
moderation,
Good
fortune.
The
second place: 01° - 02° Taurus: 31.
Influence, Wooing
Progress through charm and goodwill.
One smiles to get what one wants.
Nine in the second place:
One
pushes too far
And
speaks too much.
This
is not the best way
To
get what one wants.
Great
expectations and good intentions while seemingly beneficial can often have the
effect of making other people feel guilty, dependent and less worthy than they
are! If you truly care for someone, you will allow them to tackle their own
oppositions and thereby give them the respect and dignity for solving
challenges by themselves.
It is so
easy to convince ourselves that what we are doing is right, and thereby whoever
is opposing this or doing something else must be wrong! Strive to be humble and
tolerant. Opposition can bring great awareness and lead to acceptance and even
compassion.
Mental
judgments can be harsh and have extremely negative effects on others. It is so
easy to cast blame or single out someone else for criticism, especially on the
web. Lives can be ruined by such negative gossip. Opposition presents us with
an opportunity for increased awareness. Choosing to fight the opposites will
only perpetrate the extremes. There is little or no heart in this. Actions
taken without heartfelt feeling will usually take us away from our heart! Let he or she who truly has no blame, cast
the first stone! No stones will then be thrown.
Oppositions
are meant to teach us and expand our horizons. They are not meant to create
hate and violence, but to enable us to see the difference.
This is a
Taurus New Moon and there is a need to find beauty, even in the most desolate
of environments. It also holds a challenge to give what you treasure to others
rather than horde it away for yourself. All that glitters is not gold. True
love and radiance will come from giving and sharing. How can one person be
financially abundant and indulgent when there is even one person starving in
the world?
How to
share beauty and love in a world of apparent oppositions? This is the challenge
of the Taurus New Moon. Are you worthy of beauty and love? Are your ready for
it?
Singing
hymns or bhajans, and chanting God’s name with others is a most beautiful
activity. In the Age of Kali, otherwise known as the age of argument and
darkness, chanting is said to be the most direct way to attain Godhead, or
loving presence. Chanting cuts through the darkness and doubts of the restless
mind and helps us to focus on heartfelt feelings.
When you
say a name of God, God is there. The more times you say it the more God is
there.
