Hari Om,

Please pass this on to anyone you think is interested. If you receive this

newsletter from a friend and want to be on this mailing list, just email in your

request.

The exact New Moon occurs on Wednesday, May 13, at 7:08 PM (EDT), (May 14, at

6:36 AM in Gujarat) in the I Ching hexagram “The Taming Power of the Great”.

Included below are the relevant interpretation segments of the hexagram from my

ebook The I Ching: The Sequence of Change, An Astrological Perspective. Relevant

portions of the text are listed below. (Can be ordered online at

www.thewakingdream.net)

First is the hexagram that the New Moon is happening in.

26. TAMING POWER OF THE GREAT

ABOVE AND BELOW:

The mountain above, heaven below.
The heavenly mountain.
One cannot reach the kingdom of heaven by force.
To be firm in what is right
And patient about receiving benefits
Is appropriate.
Do not speak until you are spoken to.

THE IMAGE:
The mountain causes one to delay.
To force the moment is folly.
To cross the great water is fortunate.
Be patient.
Be prepared.
Rest before you start.

THE JUDGEMENT:
Restraint without, creativity within.
One does not overstep the limits of one’s position.
One maintains restraint.
One pauses before one starts.
One breathes in and pauses before one breathes out.
One thinks before one speaks.
There is no music without restraint.
To gain quality one must limit quantity.

FAMILY RELATIONSHIP:
The father to the third son.
The father is firm. The third son is patient.
The father is creative. The third son shows restraint.
The father talks freely.
The third son has a measured approach
And is selective in what he says.
The father learns not to force his way on the third son.
He must make a quiet approach.
If he laughs too loud or is insensitive,
The third son will not respond.

ZODIAC CONSIDERATIONS (Pentans):

The effects of light are increasing.
The power of warmth ascends.
There is much to be happy about.
Life is good.
Some restraint is in order.
Hasty and insensitive words can spoil the day.

Now we look at the line of the hexagram or degree that the New Moon is happening

in.

THE LINES

Nine in the first place: (23° - 24° Taurus)

The first step is taken.
A noise is made.
One’s effect is limited.
One cannot turn back.
If one’s action is selfish
There will be humiliation and damages.

The first place: 23° - 24° Taurus: 22. Grace
Standing on hot coals
One must be graceful.
One rests in clarity but must restrain one’s words.

Nine in the first place:
One action is worth a thousand words.
One begins strong and powerful.
It would be wise to conserve some energy for later.
There is no need to announce what one is doing.

In the face of delays and setbacks, it becomes ever more important to think

positively. Affirmative action can overcome great setbacks and it inspires

confidence in others. Much is happening that will cause delays and inconvenience in

the world. The challenge here is to not lose your centre and to avoid getting

caught in negative projections. Inner peace will bring joy and contentment. Outer

worries will not! Even when it seems that something horrible has happened it

becomes important to realize that nothing happens without God. It is just as hard

to accept disease, poverty and war! No doubt the universe is unfolding as it

should! Problems arise and in time awareness is raised and solutions are found. Do

not let the news, disturb or diminish your faith!
This is a big challenge!
Chanting is a way to diminish mental worries and increase inner happiness. Which

voice is the more important one for you?

This brings to mind an old Cherokee teaching that was included in this newsletter

six months ago.:

An old Cherokee is teaching his grandson about life. "A fight is going on inside

me," he said to the boy, "It is a terrible fight and it is between two

wolves...it’s a fight to the death!

One is evil -- he is anger, envy, sorrow, regret, greed, arrogance, self-pity,

guilt, resentment, inferiority, lies, false pride, superiority and ego.

The other is good -- he is joy, peace, love, hope, serenity, humility, kindness,

benevolence, empathy, generosity, truth, compassion and faith.""

And then he said: "This same fight is going on inside you --and inside every other

person, too."

The grandson thought about it for a minute and then asked his grandfather, "Which

wolf will win?"

The old Cherokee simply replied, "The one you feed!"

Chanting helps to keep the thoughts clear and clean. It cleans the psyche filtering

out negative vibrations and doubts.

This is the New Moon in Taurus. It is impressed with the beauty of Spring. This is

a very physical and material time when personal comforts and desires come to the

surface. The passions and pleasures of Spring are in full bloom.
The seasons, however, do change in time. Taurus is ruled by Venus the planet of

attraction and repulsion. Either one has what one wants or one is likely

complaining about it.
This is a materialistic New Moon, however, it is also filled with a need for

appreciation and rewards. A special value of chanting now, is that it can reach our

deepest emotional values. True love will be deeply appreciated. Love is its own

reward!
It is useful to remember that all that glitters is not gold, and love is usually

experienced through giving more than receiving!

There are a lot of temptations involved with this Taurus New Moon; circumstances

that can pull you away from your true inner worth. There is also a messianic

tendency to convince oneself that one can do anything and get away with it.
Truly this is a New Moon that cries out for stillness and calm, rather than

aggression and anger. “Go placidly amidst the noise and haste…..”

Keeping the inner light lit is the higher challenge. It is not about having things,

but rather about improving one’s capacity for experiencing heartfelt feelings.

Unconditional emotions! Imaging feeling happy for no reason!

There are many harsh realities out in the world. That does not mean that it is

justified to throw away courtesy and respect. Very little good can come out of

anger. This is a time to send goodwill to others and to the world at large!
Try to make some time to stay in the moment, ... with heartfelt sincerity.

Take some time to plant seeds of heart felt sincerity. It will change the quality

of your memories tomorrow.

Chanting on the New Moon gives extra power to the chant, as it is the seed moment

of the month when the past (Moon-Krishna) and the future (Sun-Rama) embrace each

other. Bring your sensitivity to God into the moment. Really, into every moment!

Chanting on the New Moon will purify your psyche and give reinforcement to your

inner feelings and faith. Enjoy it!

Chant while you walk! Chant while you drive!
